Andy and his son Opie are left alone for the weekend without their Aunt Bee. They now have a responsibility to clean up their messes before she gets home. Andy teaches his son how to properly do dishes.

Otis has been a troubled citizen of the town of Maybury, and when he is honored with an award for being a decent of a famous war hero, he graciously declines the honor. He says he just because he had a hero in his family, does not mean he is a hero. He has made mistakes and took a responsible route by honoring the town mayor instead of himself.

Andy and Opie finish cleaning the house while Aunt Bee is away. They wanted to make sure it got done before she came home. They discuss how good it feels to be sitting in a clean room: they feel better about themselves. However, Andy realizes that maybe cleaning up will make Aunt Bee sad...

They find the inventor of warp drive and captain of that crucial launch, Zephraim Cochrane, and make him realize the importance of his role.
