Josie acts like Madam Curie to explain how she discovered radiation and how it works. Beakman talks about how the fission of atoms produces heat, which makes radioactive materials glow. Beakman sets up a demonstration with mousetraps and ping pong balls (atoms) where he hits one and it causes a chain reaction of all of the mouse traps triggering.
This fun song recounts the history of how Marie Curie is a great contributor to scientific knowledge with her discovery of radiation.
Duke Nukem is overflowing with a radioactive charge, to the point where Captain Planet cannot get near him. However, Captain Planet has an idea to borrow the lead suit from Duke's very own assistant, "Lead Suit". Upon doing so, he is able to block Nukem's radiation with the protection of the suit.
The Planeteers visit Chile and see that animals have gone blind and have rashes due to the sun.
The Planeteers go to a laboratory and spot animals being exposed to radiation. Dr. Rottenberry thinks he is helping the animals to be better adapted to life without the protection of the ozone layer. Linka suggests that humans should replace the things we do that cause ozone depletion, but Dr. Rottenberry says that would require the cooperation of nations all over the world.
