Keda wakes up on the precipice of a cliff after falling off the edge and does what he can to survive.

Keda finds Alpha once again, but accidentally falls beneath the frozen lake.

Will interviews Richard Westbrook, an official with the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). He has a pessimistic view of the challenges involving climate change and suggests that the climate debate is long over: we're too late. He also mentions some impacts of climate change: mass migrations, food and water shortages, endless wildfires, and massive storms.

Immediately after Rango mentions the need for a hero to face conflict in a story, the car in which he's riding collides with an armadillo on the street, sending his tank out the back window. Rango finds himself in a desert without water, and he is evidently not adapted to this new hot and dry environment.

A group of men are stranded in the desert, and they reconstruct an airplane and get it ready to fly as their only escape.
