After an encounter with Sly Sludges' mechanical Octopus, Gi wakes up to find herself in the underwater city of Oceanus. Her rescuer, Pontious, outlines sustainable, environmentally safe methods for sustaining the underwater city, such as extracting oxygen from sea water to create a breathable atmosphere inside of the glass dome containing Oceanus.

To escape the island, the CyberSquad must reach before sunset one of the portals that Motherboard has placed on the island at random. The group uses the map to determine the distance to each portal and accounts for facts such as steep climbs and bridges being down. The kids and Digit decide to take the rapids to the bay, where they successfully reach the portal.
A minituarized Martin has been following Hero the Salmon on her Salmon run. They both swim into Aviva, who is standing in the river. Aviva and Martin follow Hero on part of her journey, when they get to one of Hero's obstacles, a waterfall.
The CyberSquad's only hope of escaping the island is a lily pad bridge that they find in a catastrophe kit. When they put the lily pad in the water, it replicates itself, creating two. Shortly after, they observe that the lily pads in the water replicate themselves, creating four lily pads. Inez estimates that they will need 128 lily pads to escape the island, and since the lily pads are doubing themselves, it won't take long for them to be able to escape.
