Max, a forty-four-year-old, severely obese man who lives in New York, is pen pals with Mary, a lonely eight-year-old girl who lives in the suburbs of Melbourne. He shares more about himself by describing a condition he has: Asperger's Syndrome.

Trevor meets with the principal, who tells him about an cafeteria incident in which his daughter, Annie, put cake on another student's face after he was bullying her. The principal states that Annie will be suspended if she acts aggressively again. Trevor defends Annie and states that she's been bullied by the same student constantly and that no one from the school has helped handle the situation. He concludes the meeting by saying they'll take the matter into their own hands.
Annie confronts a bully who wants to beat up Sean again. She succeeds in stopping him, and in turn, hopes that being nice to Sean will prevent him from bullying her further.
