Due to the large abundance of Christian influence in England, there was a large pressure and social expectation to follow Chiristian culture. Participation in religious practices was inbeded in culture and laws of settlements.
Settler's government system was based off whomever was chosen by the Engliish Governement. The individual had total power and determined the culture and future of the colony.
The settlers were colonists of England and so as a requirement had to follow English social rules and docterine.
Food was scarce to the colonists due to the limited carrying capacity in the ship when sailing. They had to be presice on what food they could bring that would last their 4 month journey to the new country and many monthes after their arrival
