Tom invites his alley cat friends over, and they have a party. They play loud Jazz music with makeshift instruments, which disturbs Jerry's sleep. Jerry tries to stop them from making so much noise so he can have some peace and quiet.
Thomas and Max head to a bar, and Max states that he doesn't like music. After being exposed to enough jazz, Max starts to feel the groove and dance to it. This scene illustrates some of the culture associated with jazz music.

When they learn that Beethoven has given up on composing music and has moved on to cooking, they try to spark his inspiration by putting him in situations that relate to his symphonies. Beethoven was a crucial figure in the transition between the Classical and Romantic eras in Western art music and remains one of the most famous and influential composers of all time.
