Eris, the Goddess of discord, is featured as a character in the series. She is portrayed as a valley girl and speaks using jargon from the 1980's. Her core mythological elements as a goddess of chaos and strife and her symbol of the golden apple remain in tact.

The Sicarii, a clandestine faction opposed to Roman rule, begin targeting collaborators and Romans. The Sicarii, like other groups of Zealots, hoped to inspire a popular uprising against the Romans. For a short time, Jerusalem is liberated from the Romans.
