The Mineral Explorers travel to Najuvan, Spain, the source of pyrite. The explorers discuss one characteristic of pyrite that is hard to believe: its perfect cube form.

Beakman explains what metals are and how they occur naturally. He then pretends to be Andrew Carnegie to explain how he figured out how to make steel. Beakman explains that steel is a lot stronger than iron so this allowed us to create buildings, strong machines, etc.

Beakman explains how to create a bouncing egg by putting it in a jar of vinegar for a few days. He says the shell is hard because it's made of minerals and the aceitic acid in vinegar breaks down those minerals leaving behind the rubbery texture.

Hannah instructs the group to go down into the chasm, as it may be their only hope out of the cave. Professor Anderson is the first to climb down, and Sean follows but takes much longer, as he is frightened. During the descent, Professor Anderson notices some metamorphic rocks and tells Sean about them. He loses his balance and is put into what he initially thought was a perilous situation.
