The National Assembly presents to France the Declaration of the Rights of the Man and of the Citizen. Marquis de Lafayette reads an excerpt from the document, highlighting its focus on human civil rights.

To save the revolution, Saint-Just convinces the other revolutionists that they need to accompany virtue with terror. Terror then becomes entrenched in the Revolution.

After being met with hostility by the Council of Five Hundred, Napoleon Bonaparte rallies troops and orders them to invade the Orangerie and disperse the Council. This effectively marked the end of the French Directory and Napoleon's rise to power as First Consul of France.
