Abraham reads excerpts from a song in Spanish to Selena. Since she doesn't speak Spanish, he translates words and phrases for her. They then have a talk in which Abraham encourages Selena to embrace her Mexican roots. He tells her that she can like both American and Mexican music; it doesn't have to be one or the other.

The narrator describes Amelie's upbringing by neurotic parents and explains how she became imaginative and introverted.

Nick teaches his son how to think about the writing prompt that his teacher assigned him. He encourages his son to think beyond the parameters that his teacher set for the prompt and reinforces the idea that you are never wrong if you are able to argue correctly.
