10 Things I Hate About You: Golf Balls onto Football Field
  • Physics → Motion → Projectile Motion

Several students hit golf balls into the football field. As they hit the balls, there is another person on the field catching them in a basket. The balls are leaving the ground at various angles and their trajectories are a good example of projectile motion.

Public Discussion Questions

  1. Have students list other examples of projectile motion seen in real life.
  2. What are the variables involved with projectile motion?
  3. How does gravity come into play?
  4. What does the angle of a golf club's head have to do with distance traveled and angle of departure of the ball?
