Otis has been a troubled citizen of the town of Maybury, and when he is honored with an award for being a decent of a famous war hero, he graciously declines the honor. He says he just because he had a hero in his family, does not mean he is a hero. He has made mistakes and took a responsible route by honoring the town mayor instead of himself.
Frankie Flint seems trapped in her home with a controlling father. When she goes to the drug store, Ellie notices she wants certain feminine products, but Frankie says her dad will not allow that. Ellie and Andy confront Mr. Flint and stand up for Frankie.
Eddy commits an unselfish deed by replacing a dead bulb on a Christmas tree, prompting Santa to deliver presents to all of the kids in the cul-de-sac. It is clear that one selfless act isn't enough to change his character, however, as he takes everyone's presents for himself.
