Brother Bear and Sister Bear tidy up Brother Bear's room in order to find items for Brother Bear to build a birdhouse as well as to find Sister Bear's doll. Items are not properly placed and the cleanup was rushed. Brother Bear begins to work on his birdhouse, and is called down for dinner. He realizes that he is still missing a permission slip he needs, and rushes to his room to find it. As he opened the closet, all the items he quickly shoved in there come toppling down, destroying the birdhouse. Brother Bear takes the experience as a lesson to cleap up his room the proper way.
Sister Bear is worried about third grade being much harder than second grade after Too Tall tells her it will be difficult. The rest of the family work together to convince her that she will be fine in her new class.
Papa and the cubs decide to train together for the Annual Bear Country Run, but find their performance level isn't increasing the way that it should. Dr. Grizzly informs them that exercise is important, but so is a healthy diet.
Professor Actual Factual tells Brother and Sister a little about the environment within Bear Country, including the problem of the increasing size of the landfills. He expresses the importance of taking care of the environment through a couple of ways.
The teacher tasks the class with writing a report about what they want to be when they grow up. Some of the students know what to write for their report; however, Brother Bear doesn't. He explores the neighborhood with Freddy to find what interests him.
