Michael chooses Stanley as a starter on the office basketball team solely because he is African American. When the game begins, he is surprised to find out that Stanley is not good at basketball.

War veteran Walt Kowalski is invited to his neighbor's house, where he is educated on the cultural practices of the Hmong people. He doesn't show them very much respect initially.

When a Japanese car company buys an American plant, the American liason must mediate the clash between two parties. The liason enters the meeting with his own set of ideas for cultural appropriateness. It is evident that he is not well-versed in Japanese culture.

In an attempt to be sensitive, Micahel creates a list of things that the office members cannot mock about each other, which brings to light his lack of awareness to culture and feelings.

Michael is upset that one of the employees stated that prison was better than working in the office, so he takes on the Prison Mike persona, stereotyping all prisoners.
